Well, you know how sometimes things have to get a little worse before they can get better?
Here is a shot of the master bathroom "before":
(Sidenote: the falling-off-the-wall sink is one of the reasons we had a hard time getting a mortgage approved for this house. We had to prove to the bank that we intended to fix it. Yes, seriously.)
First things first, we decided to help that poor sink in its mission to escape from the wall. Here's what we found behind it:
Oh hello there rotted wall!
While we're at it, let's see what's behind that terrible flowery wallpaper:
Why, it's some iridescent butterflies!
At least this will make the "after" shots that much more fun.

Wow. One surprise after another. Still can't get over those corn knobs in the kitchen-haha. Did someone live here just before you bought it or was it vacant for awhile? Lots of luck on the befores and am looking forward to the afters- it will be fab!
ReplyDeleteThanks Amy! There was an older lady living there right up until we bought it. Apparently she moved in around 1972 and didn't do ANYTHING to the house besides replace the furnace (but thank goodness for that), so everything is pre-1970s! There are 3.5 baths and they are all just as awful!
ReplyDeleteOh Wow! That wallpaper is almost as good as the corn knob... ALMOST! I cannot wait to see how your place turns out, the Hubs and I would love to buy a place and fix it up, so I'm living vicariously through you :)
ReplyDeleteWow oh wow! What a project you have on your hands! Love the whimsical butterflies behinds the pretty floral wallpaper! Can't wait to see the finished project!
ReplyDeleteWhereabouts downtown do you live?
