In an attempt to make my (currently un-liveable) house a home for the holidays, I wanted to replace the cheap red felt stockings that have graced our apartments over the past few Christmases with something a little nicer. I turned to etsy and found the gorgeous shop of Marla Rowe, Prairie Path. Marla upcycles wool sweaters into all kinds of adorable goodies. In her own words: "I absolutely love the thought of creating something beautiful from a discarded sweater or other pre-existing materials. Using pre-existing materials diminishes my carbon footprint. Here you will find plush toys, totes and anything I think to create out of upcycled materials."
So in addition to a full makeover, the fireplace in our living room (seen here as it was when we bought our house last summer) will soon be spruced up by these three beautiful stockings.

I get so sentimental about the holidays, and I can't wait to pull these out at Christmas for years to come...
Wintery white with lace for me:

Fuzzy blue with white snowflakes for the hubs:

And a mini argyle version with buttons for Duncan:

When I received these in the mail (two days after I had ordered them!), I was amazed by the gorgeous details.

I couldn't help but head right back to her shop to order one of her mini stocking garlands...

So the good news is that Marla has agreed to give a lucky reader of mine a stocking of their very own!
To enter, please click over to her shop and find your favorite item of hers. It can be a Christmas item, one of her cool mobiles (I'm partial to the sea creatures version), or even your choice of one of her adorable plush turtles. Come back and leave a comment here with your favorite item. I'll choose one comment at random to win the stocking.
Commenters who also follow this blog (this is different from subscribing- see sidebar at right to become a follower) will receive one extra entry. You have until midnight on Wednesday to enter... good luck!

What a great find!! I love the striped dot arm warmers... they'd be perfect to wear in my cold office because I'd still be able to type :) (Which is hard with gloves on!)
ReplyDeleteThat fish mobile is also beyond adorable! If only I had a nursery to decorate :)
I love the stockings (the beaded wool is my favorite) but I really love the mini stocking garland! There's not another listed on her site, which I am currently sad about - I have the perfect place to hang them!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm also a follower! klhagen.23 (at) gmail.com
My favorite is the "Warm Oatmeal Stripe" stocking!
ReplyDeleteI'm also a follower :)
I am tempted to say a stocking just because they are so adorable, but I'm not sure what a Jewish girl does with a stocking! So I will say the pink dot cashmere scarf. :)
ReplyDeleteThose are so precious! I love the candy cane one!
ReplyDeleteI would totally go for the purple striped cardigan stocking!! Would look perfect in our new/old home!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the 10,000 visits, by the way!
Okay, the wool stocking garland is possibly the cutest thing I've ever seen. Sign me up!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI looooooooooooove the "earthy wool stocking"!! Congrats on 10,000 visits!
ReplyDeleteI am with Brooke- I adore that wool stocking garland. I might have to buy that today. :)

ReplyDeleteI love the stocking garland! And am also a follower ;)
ReplyDeleteWe both have dogs named Duncan, how funny!
I just got so excited when I checked my google reader and saw this. I've been looking for stockings since it's our first Christmas and we need to buy some! I love all the stockings in her shop!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on over 10,000 views! That is huge. It gives me motivation to finally start my post-wedding blog. :)
I love your stocking best, but if I had to choose one of the currently available ones, I think I'd pick the Snow Tracks stocking. It's so cute!
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! :)
This is the second time I've entered a contest crossing my fingers for a holiday garland, although I admit the stocking garland is my favorite! I love that she really thought about things and added buttons on both sides of each stocking so they can be hunt in a doorway and look great from both sides. I have two places I want to hang this one though, so I might need to win one and buy the other. :)
ReplyDeleteOh how sweet! I love the mini stocking garland! So adorable!
ReplyDeleteI like the lime stripes and red dots stocking! So cute! Great find!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the Purple Striped Cardigan stocking! Very cute!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm already a follower :)
I love the warm oatmeal striped stocking and the candy cane wool stocking. I've already mentally picked out stockings for the whole extended family, including pups!
ReplyDeleteAnother follower here!
I can't decide whether I love the stocking garland or the wee itty stocking ornaments better. Might have to get both.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway :) I LOVE that stocking garland it would look perfect on our mantle.
ReplyDeletePsst... I'm also a follower :)
ReplyDeleteI knew I followed you for a reason! I love the Lime Stripes Red Dots Stocking. How adorable!
ReplyDeleteThis is so fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm lovin' the canday cane stocking!
Congratulations your 1st 10,000 hits, the next 10,000 is just around the corner!
p.s. I still can't figure out how to leave my link as my signature!
Ohhh I love these! I think your white lace stocking is my favorite but since I didn't see anymore like that in the shop I will pick the purple striped cardigan stocking with the buttons! That garland is super cute, I really want one!
ReplyDeleteps-I have a giveaway up on my blog if you're interested!
Oh my lord, the stocking garland is the cutest thing ever!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I may have to steal it. Thank you for helping turn me onto Etsy. I have to say my favorite here is the "Shades of Blue" stocking. What fun!
ReplyDeleteI choose the ever-so-adorable "Steal your Heart" blue woolen skirt with pink (of course)hearts. It reminds me of my Nana B's recreated outfits (recycling articles of clothing in the 30's)she made for my mom and my mom's three siblings. Plus one of my favorite childhood memories when visiting my grandmother was going through and sorting all the buttons in one of the drawers of her trundle sewing machine. And why do I want this precious recycled wool item? Let's say I'd put it in the cedar chest for a rainy day...
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 10,000 visits! I really like the Wool Stocking Garland--they are so cute all hanging in a row.
ReplyDeleteLove! Especially the Shades of White stocking -- so simple but so gorgeous. (And I'm considering the string of fish for our nursery, hmmmm.)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your bloggy milestone!
I've never quite understood the Google follow thing, but why not? I'm now a follower. ;) [And of course I'm a longtime subscriber via Bloglines as well...]
ReplyDeleteThe Shades of White stocking is adorable. Congrats on 10,000 visits!
ReplyDeleteThe stockings are sweet, but I LOVE your living, especially the fire place where they'll eventually hang.
ReplyDeleteI need two stockings for two new grandchildren born this year. If I'd win one, perhaps I could afford to buy a second one. I like the Candy Cane Wool Stocking and the Squares Wool Stocking.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your blog especially since my hubby is also a fixer upper and can remodel most anything as well as build new. In addition he's a dog lover. The Halloween costumes are adorable.
Be still my wool-loving heart! Marla sure has some awfully cute designs. I especially love the mini stocking garland and the Warm Oatmeal Stripe stocking (couldn't pick just one)! Congratulations on welcoming 10,000 visitors!
ReplyDeleteI Love the School of Fish mobile.
ReplyDeleteToo cute!
Your house is really coming along beautifully.

Aw I love this! And I've been looking for an additional stocking myself - I'd go with the Shades of Red stocking (and if I don't win I think I might have to back there and buy it!)
ReplyDelete10,000 visits - how exciting! :) Thanks for sharing this fabulous Etsy find! I think my favorite would be the Striped Dots Arm Warmers/Fingerless Gloves. I hate regular gloves because my engagement ring tends to get all caught up in the fingers, so these are a great alternative!
ReplyDeleteI cant get over the cuteness of the baby slowpoke turtle.
ReplyDeletei love the candy cane stocking - too cute! might have to go stock up for christmas whether or not i win the drawing... =)
ReplyDeletebvaught (at) hotmail (dot) come

ReplyDeletemy favorite is cozy by the fire stocking in charcoal!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 10,000 hits!
ooh, pick me, pick me! love all of her stuff, but the beaded wool is my fav. no wait, the gloves -- no the wool. oh, i like it all!
