Still feeling awesome, and happy to be sporting just a bit more of an official bump. I had my 16-week checkup the day of this photo, hence the post-flu shot bandaid. Doctor's appointments are becoming pretty quick- pee in a cup, step on the scale, listen to the heartbeat (YAY!), give some blood and get any questions I have answered. Jumping back to that stepping on the scale bit though- YEOUCH. Seeing numbers that I have never seen before is a bit alarming. After gaining only a pound in between my 7 and 12 week appointments, let's just say I made up for lost time this week.
Ah, week sixteen. The earliest week those impatient first time parents-to-be can get a gender-determination ultrasound. We just couldn't wait any longer, and I'm so glad we decided to go for it. Knowing what I'm having just makes everything more REAL (I think I say that every time we hit a milestone)! We've been calling him by his name, coming up with silly nicknames already, and I've already slipped to one family member (shhhhhhhh!). I'm not giving out any hints besides the fact that the name is a match to our very Irish last name- I've heard lots of guesses but not one person has picked it so far!
It is really ridiculous the amount of comments people feel the need to make about pregnancy. For every coworker (I work in three different offices so there are a lot of them) who says "WHOA you're really popping out there!", another one says "pssschaw, I can't even tell you're pregnant". So depending on who you're talking to, I'm either way too big or way too small for seventeen weeks. Seriously people, I didn't ask you!
I have had only one person who didn't know I was pregnant congratulate me- which I happen to think is pretty daring at this point! (I blame it on the empire waist dress I was wearing at the time, which always made me look a bit preggo even when I wasn't.) But I am starting to notice a few bumpward-glances while walking around my neighborhood. I think I'm still at the stage where they're wondering if I'm knocked up or just over-indulging in a little early Halloween candy.
I'm sporting a more tanned little bump this week thanks to a little babymoon vacation for hubs and I! It was awesome, relaxing, and much-needed. I'll post a few pictures soon. I'm still feeling great, and with a lot more energy as we approach the halfway (holy crap) point. I'm finally feeling up to really exercising again, which is a good thing as I'm feeling really anxious about what the scale is going to read at my doctor's appointment next week.
Also weighing on my mind is when I am going to start feeling my little guy move around! Yesterday I tweeted that I hadn't felt anything yet, and not ten minutes later I felt a very faint POP- unlike anything I've ever felt before. I'm thinking that was him, but hoping to feel something a little more definitive soon. We have another ultrasound (the official anatomy scan one) on Monday... cannot wait to catch a glimpse of baby O again!
And now I am (finally) totally caught up! Nineteen weeks tomorrow- aka almost halfway there- unbelievable.
