Things are still going fabulous in pregnancy land. What a rollercoaster... if you had asked me during the first trimester, I would have told you that I was definitely questioning if I'd ever want to go through this again. I was only 24/7 sick for about four weeks, but it felt like forever when I was in the middle of it. Here in the second trimester I will tell you that I have never ever felt better than I do right now. I feel so healthy, alive, blessed, and just plain happy all the time. Sorry, I know that's a little sickening. But honestly, I catch myself smiling at random times throughout the day, feel like I love my husband more than I ever have, and just can't believe how amazing this whole process is. I'm even loving the huge belly I've got going on (and believe me, I know that I haven't seen anything yet). Here's hoping third trimester won't have me changing my mind back to the pregnancy-is-horrible opinion.
While I'm on the topic of things I'm loving, let me gush for a minute about my prenatal yoga class. I cannot recommend it enough. I was totally new to yoga when I joined at 14 weeks. My instructor spends time at the beginning of every class to go around and ask where everyone is in their pregnancy and what symptoms are bothering them. Then during the class she recommends specific things for everyone based on that info. I was having almost constant lower back pain last week which was driving me pretty insane, and I swear it's been a million times better since she worked with me on a few things to alleviate it. It's also pretty awesome to sit in a room with a bunch of other women sporting big bellies, to see the differences from week to week, and to have others to talk to. I'm obsessed I tell you :)
Hubs and I had a meeting with the pediatrician group we're planning on using tonight and that definitely made everything seem very real! You mean there's going to be a real live baby at the end of this road!? We are starting to get very excited to meet him. We have a birth class and tour at the hospital in January, and a birth workshop through my yoga studio in March.
As for the big OB versus midwife decision, thank you all for all of your comments on my last post about that. I've decided to transfer to a midwife practice but I'm still up in the air on whether I'll deliver with them at the hospital or in the birth center. Stay tuned :)
Pounds gained: Officially 20, OMG. Trying not to think about it.
What I'm eating too much of: I went to a cookie exchange party last weekend, where you make, trade, and then take home, 8 dozen cookies. The idea is that you'll package them up and send them off as Christmas gifts. Let's just say that probably isn't going to happen at this point. Unless anyone wants the crumbs in the bottom of the bag.
Purchased: That first baby purchase opened a bit of a floodgate. My most recent purchase was a pack of baby SmartWool booties. Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Watch me inflate:
