Dear Finn,
Wow, this month has been full of changes for you. First of all, you're really talking up a storm. We love to have long conversations with you, although I'll be the first to admit I have no idea what in the world you're saying. One of your favorite activities is still your before-bedtime routine of laying in your crib, marching with your legs, and arms waving all around while you babble at us. There's a new noise coming out of your mouth every other day now, and you're so proud of yourself. It's pretty often that one of us calls to the other, "come see how cute your son is being right now!". That will probably embarrass you a whole lot someday.
Another big change has been your interest in toys. When we first brought you home we were so excited to show you all of your cool new stuff, but you really couldn't have cared less about anything but staring at our faces and maybe at your brother Duncan at first. But now you love to look at all of your stuffed animals, books, and toys. You even reach out and grab for them once in awhile, although you're still working on that hand-eye coordination thing.
You started off your third month meeting a couple of new friends. Little Lucy was only two weeks old when you met her, and you looked so big next to her I could swear there was no way there are only nine weeks between you. Later on that same day you met new baby Ryder on her second day of life. Again, your dad and I marveled at how much you've changed since you were the newest baby on the block. It's just amazing. Lots of ladies around for you, lucky little man!
We both had a huge adjustment to make this month as my maternity leave ended and I headed back to work part time. I'll never forget how wonderful those ten weeks we got to spend together were. It's a good thing we get two whole days during the week to spend together still, as well as two mornings and our weekends, all of which we appreciate so much. On the three days that I work, you spend your days with Miss Katie, and so far you have been having a blast with her. She sends me lots of messages and pictures of you throughout the day, and I count down the hours until I get to come home to you. Your dad arrives home first and takes care of you in the evenings that I work. I think you two really love your time together.
You surprised us this month by rolling over onto your back during tummy time. You did it only once before you decided that rolling from back to front is MUCH more fun. You're doing that regularly now, but aren't so much of a fan of rolling back. Needless to say you're spending a whole lot of time on your tummy as a result, and you are getting so strong! You're also really loving standing up in our laps. I hope that doesn't mean you're planning to be a walker by nine months like your dad was.
Your dad took you in a swimming pool for the first time on Father's Day, and although you disliked it strongly for the first minute or so, before long you were swimming with him happily. It was so much fun to watch you share your first swim with him. I know he's dying to introduce you to all sort of new adventures, like sailing and biking and skiing and who knows what else. I hope you love the outdoors as much as he does!
Three Month Stats: you didn't go to the pediatrician this month, but we think you're around 14 pounds
Size: You're still wearing most of your three month clothes, but you fit into all of your six month stuff now too.
