7 am. Finn's been asleep since 3 am when I fed him in his room. That was a six hour stretch of sleep from his 9 pm bedtime, which is pretty typical these days although we hope for seven or eight. Hubs was about to leave for work when he woke up so he went into his room to get him, change him, and bring him to me in bed before he left. I nurse him and we both fall asleep.
8:29 am. I wake up and check the time. Whoa! Totally surprised that Finn let me sleep in.
Finn's pretty happy to chill in bed so I check my email and Twitter and play around on my phone for a bit. I send his dad a good morning text with a photo of Finn.
8:43 am. I decide I should dust off the "real" camera if I'm going to spend all day taking photos. I grab it and snuggle back into bed with my guy.
8:55 am. We could lay around forever (and sometimes we do); Finn is usually in a really good mood in the mornings. But we have plans to go for a walk with a friend, so I get dressed while Finn tries to scoot towards his favorite toy ever. Luckily for me, these days he usually ends up pushing himself in the opposite direction that he'd like to go.
9:04 am. I gather all the laundry that I want to get done today. Laundry grows exponentially with a baby...not only are there the extra baby clothes, but I change mine much more often as well due to spit-up and the like. We have an unusual amount today though, because we stayed at my in-laws' house over the weekend due to the hurricane and power outage. (Note the high school shout-out... aka the only proof I have that I "played" basketball for five minutes in tenth grade.)
9:10 am. Finn gets diaper number two of the day.
I get him dressed in his crib, which is becoming more of a wrestling match every day. He doesn't want to be anywhere but on his belly.
I take his weekly photo... we almost always do this one day early, and today is no exception.
9:30 am. We head downstairs and say good morning to Duncan who is asleep on the couch. I put Finn in his highchair while I start the laundry. This carrot teething toy from Giggle is a new favorite.
We play a couple of rounds of fetch... Finn does the throwing and I do the fetching of course.
I clean up the kitchen a bit and take care of the milk that I pumped yesterday at work... Finn's babysitter will use it tomorrow. I pump into big bottles and then portion it out into bags of four ounce servings.
9:55 am. I feed Finn in his room.
10:12 am. He falls asleep and I move him into his crib. I head downstairs to start another load of laundry and eat a breakfast bar. I get a text from my friend who was supposed to meet us for a walk saying she is still without power from the hurricane and is staying out of town so we're on our own this morning.
10:37 am. He's awake. Pretty typical and pretty frustrating naplet.
10:45 am. I put Finn in his stroller and head outside with him and Duncan, who is ready for walk number two of the day (Hubs took him for the first one at seven). It is a gorgeous day outside, 70 degrees and sunny.
It took Duncan a little while to get used to walking next to the stroller but now he doesn't mind too much.
I feel like a total goober for taking this shot but I know it will be fun to look back on someday.
11 am. We drop Duncan off back at home and head to Starbucks.
11:10 am. Venti iced green tea latte procured, we sit and watch the ducks for awhile. Moments like this make me really wish I could be a stay at home mom every day.
11:28 am. We head home and Finn gets diaper number 3.
11:30 am. We sit on the floor in the living room and Finn scooches around while I sort through some clothes that Finn's cousin handed down to him.
11:55 am. I move Finn to his doodlebugs play center and I start yet another load of laundry.
11:58 am. Finn plays while I make a grocery list.
12:03 pm. He's playing happily so I do the same on my iPhone for a bit.
I get a timely email from The Bump telling me that it's important that my 23-week old spends some time playing independently. Suddenly me playing on my iPhone is for his benefit... and to think I usually can't stand these emails.
12:20 pm. Finn gets bored so we move upstairs and scoot around on the floor some more.
12:32 pm. Finn's dad comes home to have lunch with us!
12:40 pm. We find a nice grassy spot to eat lunch. I have a delicious grilled corn, potato, and avocado salad. We don't always eat out for lunch, but we had to throw out everything in our fridge after the hurricane power outage so we're taking advantage of that excuse.
1:05 pm. Hubs has to head back to work. Finn falls asleep during the one minute walk back to the house and I move him into his crib... he actually wakes up for a second when I do so which is great because we're trying to get him used to going to sleep there by himself. He rolls over...he will only sleep on his stomach now... and falls back asleep.
To be continued... what do you do all day?

Finn's such a cutie! Visiting from Blue Eyed Bride :)
ReplyDeleteI spent my first few years in Annapolis, and I loved watching the ducks with my parents! It looks like you have a sweet life with Finn. :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE THIS! I'm sure it took forever to put together too. Can't wait for the rest!
ReplyDeleteThis will be so nice to have to look back on one day.
ReplyDeleteAlso I noticed you ha e the cooshee changing pad. I've been thinking of registering for one myself and wondered how your liking it?
Love this series - you are much more organized and productive with your time than I am!
ReplyDeleteLove these! You are going to be reading back over these posts in a few more months and barely remember your routine anymore....LOVE it.
ReplyDeleteFinn is so cute! I think he's starting to look a lot like you. Also, I was just like Finn as a baby - always wanted to be on my tummy. :) Great photos!
ReplyDeleteMy typical anti-baby self is melting right now over Finn's cuteness. What a fab series - I hope you'll do it again!
ReplyDeleteYou make me feel so lazy! Haha. I definitely sat around editing and drinking coffee today. Off to run some errands and walk the dog soon.
ReplyDeleteI love that you took time to eat lunch together as a family. So sweet!
Looks like you are having a blast being a mommy. You are so fortunate! Finn is a doll and you are such a great mommy!!
ReplyDeleteI love day in the life posts :) Your little guy is getting so big, and is so so cute!!
ReplyDeleteLove it! You seem so much more productive than me and I actually am a stay at home mom! I have a question if you don't mind answering. I used to pump for some meals so my son would get used to the bottle. It's been quite some time now, but I want to start doing it again, however, I don't know how much my son will need now. He's almost 5 months, and I realize Finn is a little older, but how much does he eat when you pump?
ReplyDeleteBtw, my little man sprouted a tooth early, too. I just found it yesterday. :)
loving that NYA shout out, i want one of those bags! obviously also loving all the pics, baby pics are like crack! xoxo britt
